We are looking for a candidate to join our team at Anthias Consulting, working alongside our senior consultant.
Job title: Consultant in Gas Chromatography & GC-MS (full or part-time)
Job summary: Working alongside our senior GC consultant you will be travelling to customer sites to deliver training, develop & troubleshoot methods, develop applications and perform instrument demonstrations in Gas Chromatography, GC-MS and related techniques.
Location: Office based in Cambridgeshire, UK but applicant can be based from home if preferred, being within easy reach of Milton Keynes is a bonus. Full-time job will involve approximately 4 days of travel per week to customers mainly in the UK, but also Ireland and possibly into Europe.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Plan, organise and deliver our RSC recognised Gas Chromatography training courses, this will involve writing presentations, maintaining course-related information on the website, marketing activities like writing news items, sending out literature, taking and organising bookings.
- Deliver both off-the-shelf and tailored training courses on Gas Chromatography & GC-MS hardware and software.
- Develop and troubleshoot GC & GC-MS methods.
- Research and develop GC & GC-MS applications.
- Perform manufacturer instrument demonstrations.
- Write reports on work done.
- Write company news items and maintain company contact database as required.
- Work to the company health and safety policy.
Requirements:
- A background in Chemistry
- Applicant must have practical experience in Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry.
- Self-driven, motivated individual with an analytical mind to be able to read and deploy what is required.
- Strong drive to rapidly absorb and develop further technical skills and able to implement knowledge quickly, especially in demanding situations.
- Sufficiently mobile and flexible to spend multiple nights per month away from home with flexible working hours.
- Must have a full UK driving license, own a car and be happy to use for business purposes – mileage will be paid at the HMRC AMAP rate.
- Well presented and comfortable working with customers in different, unfamiliar environments.
- Able to communicate clearly, listen to and answer questions from small to large audiences.
- Must be adept in computer literacy, able to use Microsoft Office, internet and email.
