New Agilent Courses at The OU for 2013

Following the remarkable success of the Agilent training courses held at The Open University in Milton Keynes, UK for the year 2012, Anthias Consulting is now extending its course range offering more and greater courses. There are currently six various GC and GC-MS training courses being provided on the Agilent 7890 GC and 5975 MSD instruments including software, hardware and Mass Spectral Interpretation training.

The feedback of a participant from the recent Agilent GC Operator course was, “I enjoyed the course content. It was very detailed and taught me about different areas of Chemstation that I didn’t know about.” Christine Kamukwanyama, Forensic Scientist at the National Forensic Science Institute in Namibia. Another participant, a Research Fellow attending the Agilent H4043A GC-MS Operator course said, “Very informative, practical “hands-on” GC-MS work. Excellent course materials. Detailed to the right level.”

The new courses are:

Agilent R1791A CFT QuickSwap and Backflush 1-day £295

This one-day course mixes classroom and laboratory training and is designed for those who want to enhance their skills in the use of the Agilent QuickSwap and purged “Tee” systems including the selection of columns, restrictors, system configuration and method optimization, plus develop backflushing skills.

Agilent R1790A CFT Splitters 1-day £295

This one-day course mixes classroom and laboratory training and is designed for those who want to enhance their skills in the use of both purged and non-purged Agilent Splitter systems including the selection of restrictors, system configuration and method optimization

Agilent R1805A Retention Time Locking 1-day £250

This one-day course mixes classroom and laboratory training and is designed to provide an understanding of the principles of RTL, how useful it is for the Screener Database and DRS methods and then learn how to set-up & maintain RTL methods in the laboratory.

These courses will be held at the Agilent Centre of Excellence in Comprehensive Chromatography based at The Open University, Milton Keynes, UK. The centre boasts a wide range of equipment including a range of Agilent GCs, MSDs, detectors, inlets and CFT devices including the GCxGC flow modulator.

The Agilent courses that are currently being provided by Anthias Consulting are:

3-day Agilent R1778A GC Operator: Covers the fundamental concepts of GC and the operation of the Agilent 7890 and 6890 Gas Chromatographs and GC Chemstation software.

2-day Agilent R1914A GC Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Discusses how to undertake regular maintenance & troubleshooting on a GC, focusing on the inlet, autosampler, column, detector, electronics and data system.

3-day Agilent H4043A GC-MS Operator: Covers the operation of the Agilent 5975 and 5973 Mass Spectrometers and MSD Chemstation software.

2-day Agilent H2294A GC-MS Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Discusses how to perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on the Agilent GC-MS, focusing on tunes & diagnostics; the vacuum system; ion source; quadrupole mass filter; detector as well as GC considerations.

3-day Agilent H4063A Mass Spectral Interpretation: Covers how to identify unknown spectra and evaluate MS library database search results from a GC-MS and uses lots of practical exercises to underline what is learnt.

2-day Agilent R1717A Deconvolution Reporting Software: Covers the fundamentals of DRS software and compound addition to existing databases; AMDIS deconvolution and NIST Search.

Diane Turner, Director of Anthias said, “It is a great to work with Agilent in order to provide these courses. Our success for 2012 has catapulted our need to increase the range of Agilent courses provided.”
