Anthias Consulting delivering training at Virtual Pittcon 2021!

Anthias Consulting will be delivering several online training sessions as part of the Short Courses programme at Pittcon® 2021, the world's leading annual conference and exposition on analytical science and instrumentation.

Pittcon 2021 will be a virtual event – the Short Courses run from March 1st – March 19th with more than 60 courses to choose from. The exposition and technical programme runs from 8th – 12th March.

2021 marks the third successive year Anthias Consulting have taught Short Courses at Pittcon, with excellent feedback. This year, Anthias' trainers Dr Diane Turner, Richard Stokes and Dr Giles Edwards will be delivering advanced level courses covering method development as well as troubleshooting and maintenance.

Course title: Applied Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Instructor: Richard Stokes BSc MSc CCHEM FRSC
Length: Full day course - 2 sessions
  Dates: Monday 1st March 2021 - Part 1: 8:30am - 12.30pm and Part 2: 1pm - 5pm Eastern Standard Time.
    Experience level:   Advanced
First, parts of the GC & GC-MS system requiring maintenance, how often and how to identify when maintenance is required are covered in detail. Then we look at preparing for problems, how to identify problems and the troubleshooting process. This knowledge is then put to the test in troubleshooting chromatograms through the final part of the day.

Course title: Applied Method Development for Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
Instructor: Dr Diane Turner PhD FRSC
Length: Full day course - 2 sessions
  Dates: Part 1: Thursday 4th March 2021 8:30am - 12.30pm and Part 2: Friday 5th March 2021 8:30am - 12.30pm Eastern Standard Time.
    Experience level:   Advanced
This module looks at the method development process, the parameters to optimise and the order to do them in. How to validate the method and method optimisation are examined in detail. This knowledge is then put to the test in working out best techniques and methods in case studies.

Course title: Applied Method Development and Optimisation for Liquid Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
Instructor: Dr Giles Edwards MChem PhD MRSC
Length: Full day course - 2 sessions
  Dates: Monday 15th March 2021 Part 1: 8:30am - 12.30pm and Part 2: 1pm - 5pm Eastern Standard Time.
    Experience level:   Advanced
This course examines the method development process in detail; covering the objectives of the analytical method, how many components are to be separated and the required sensitivity, selectivity, specificity and the speed of analysis. This is followed by system optimisation and configuration for HPLC and LC-MS. All of this knowledge is then put to the test in case studies. The course then looks at method validation protocols, system suitability and outlines the steps required for analytical method accreditation.

Course title: Applied Liquid Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Instructor: Dr Giles Edwards MChem PhD MRSC
Length: Full day course - 2 sessions
  Dates: Tuesday 16th March 2021 Part 1: 8:30am - 12.30pm and Part 2: 1pm - 5pm Eastern Standard Time.
    Experience level:   Advanced
First, the course looks at clean-up procedures for difficult samples. The parts of the LC & MS system requiring maintenance, how often and how to identify when maintenance is required are then covered in detail. Following on from this we look at preparing for problems, how to identify problems and the troubleshooting process. This knowledge is then put to the test in practical exercises on troubleshooting chromatograms through the final part of the day.

These courses have been approved by the Royal Society of Chemistry for purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Pittcon Short Courses run virtually March 1 – March 19th.
