Agilent’s 3-day Environmental and Food meeting took place in September 2012 at Stansted’s Radisson Blu Hotel, providing a perfect location for both delegates and speakers to fly in from around the UK, Europe and beyond. The 3-day meeting was well balanced with a good proportion of GC-MS and LC-MS presentations and workshops.
Anthias Consulting’s Director and Senior Consultant, Diane Turner, attended the meeting and presented a poster on Agilent’s Deconvolution Reporting Software. She received excellent feedback for the poster, which will now be used by Agilent in its DRS training course worldwide.
Diane Turner said, “I am delighted that the poster will become a vital resource for Agilent in its DRS training course. I hope that we will continue our strong relationship together to enhance our training for Agilent customers.”
As to be expected, the MS technique most talked about both in GC and LC analysis was the triple quadrupole mass analyser for target analysis. But, there were also good discussions on the limitations of this technique as well as the benefits for environmental and food analysis, one of the key discussions being what analytes should be included as targets rather than screening and how to choose.
The parallel workshops were interactive and there were a large choice of topics to choose from including workshops on method optimisation, housekeeping and applications as well as new technologies, instrumentation and software. Diane comments “Even being interested in only the GC workshops I still couldn’t attend all that I was interested in.”
Both from a non-Agilent user as well as an Agilent user’s perspective it was a useful and interesting meeting, topped off with dinner under the wings of concorde at Duxford Air Museum.
