Pittcon short course: Sample Introduction in GC & GC-MS

Sample Introduction in GC & GC-MS

Pittcon 2019 Short Course

Tuesday 19th March 2019 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

This course has been approved by the Royal Society of Chemistry for purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

What will you learn on this course?

Sample Introduction techniques are taught in detail, including their theory, optimisation and applications. These include on-column injections, split injections, splitless injections and types of large volume injection techniques. As the inlet is the most common area for problems within a GC(-MS) system, your troubleshooting and maintenance skills will greatly benefit from having a thorough knowledge of inlet systems and how they work, but we won't be covering T&M in this course.

Who is this course for?

Those who are relatively new to gas chromatography but have some experience and would like to learn more about how to get the best out of sample introduction. Those who are experiencing difficulties with their GC methods and need more knowledge to solve them.

Learning outcomes

  • You will learn about the various injection techniques and the pros and cons of each.
  • You will learn how to select the best techniques for your samples and analytes.
  • You will learn about the individual parameters required to be optimised for each technique.
  • You will have examples of applications using the techniques.
